You Can Own the Entombed 1954 Chevrolet Corvette!

Chevrolet-Corvette-740x494Car fanatics are a rare breed, as we all know. We are them. But it takes a certain level of fanaticism to buy a shiny new fiberglass Corvette and entomb it in concrete, not to be opened for decades later. That Corvette is now free of the confines and will be auctioned at the end of the month!

Richard Simpson, business owner, was constructing a new grocery store in 1959, and told the construction workers to build a concrete tomb in which he could keep the car. It’d be buried underneath the grocery story, and according to Simpson’s will, couldn’t be excavated until at least the year 2000.

The business changed hands, and the new owners were able to remove the car before the year 2000 deadline, and the car then went to Simpson’s daughter, who kept it on display in Daytona. It then went to a collector and so on.

Now, at the end of the month, it’ll be one of the cars for sale at the 45th Barrett-Jackson auction in Scottsdale, Arizona. It’ll be sold on the 23rd, so if you want it get out your checkbook and get ready.
