1995 Chevy Cheyenne k2500 5.0 crank no start and backfires

Crank but not starting backfiring through the carburetor. I have a TDI and can't get it to start without it backfiring through the carb what should I do

Check the timing to make sure it is correct.

I have tried to set it but kinda can't get it to start to set timing

I have tried EVERYTHING I HAVE BEEN TOLD AND WHAT BOOK SAYS AND STILL CRANK NO START AND BACK FIRES.. PLEASE SOMEONE HELP ME!!!!!

Was it running good and all of a sudden this started to happen or did it start after some work was done to it?

Going now BUT

I think the fuel pump is killing my battery. Had to wire the pump to a toggle and the ecm is keeping it on prime and killing my battery. I have a new battery and alt. But it is dieing
