1996 noise when breaking

1996 noise when breaking

Getting a whooshing sound coming out from area of firewall when applying brakes.
Breaks not as responsive as in the past. Any suggestions? Thanks for any help.

In case you are still trying to figure it out, it sounds like it is the brake booster, also known as the vacuum booster.
