Default 2000 350 Vortec rebuild

I am in the process of rebuilding a 2000 5.7. It came out of a 3/4 ton truck and is a 4 bolt main block. Block is stripped and will go to the machine shop for a check up.
I will replace the rotating assy. with an Eagle kit. Cyls. look good and are not tapered or scored. Iam seriously considering converting to a carb and canning the injection. I have not done anything like this conversion before. What will I have to do to "trick" the computer to get it done so all the other stuff still works as it should if at all possible.

Why would you want to go back to carburetion? Fuel injection is
the way to go, IMO If I never overhaul a carburetor again I will live
a happy life. Why not convert to a TBI unit if your vehicle doesn't
already havr one? Much better then a carburetor if you ask me.

This is a 2000 into a 96 swap...It's already injected. I had to update the spyder 150k ago with the new improved unit. Yes I could keep the injection system , but I fully understand how to tune a carb and as I said I am considering going in that direction if it's not too much trouble or expense.

Well, its your vehicle. I love that fact that I can go up steep mountain/hills without the carb flooding it out, and having to mess with the jets, idle screws and so forth when at higher/lower elevations. The fact the FI get better milage helps too. I have no idea if you can reprogram your ECM to run on carburation. Perhaps someone else would know.

So what yer sayin is...You haven't got a clue on how to help me...As you can see I don't post here often...I'm 68 and this will be my last build. The engine will get a mild cam and I assumed that tuning a carb will be less of a PITA than trying to figure out a computer controlled injection fuel system. that I don't really understand. This truck is my daily driver and will get lowered 4" all around will make the next Power Tour. This is on my bucket list.

What I am saying is that I myself LOVE fuel injection. I trained as a mechanic many moons ago, and I have rebuilt many carburetors in my time, which isn't all that much less then your own age. Yeah, I like having OBD II diagnostics, but if you want to switch to an old carburetor on an F-I designed vehicle, then I suppose I cannot help you.

What was there to like about carburetors anyhow?

They leak/seep fuel; they dont self-adjust for altitude; they conk-out when the float level gets all wacky in a four-wheel drive vehicles that is actually used for serious off-road driving and they caused lots of engine fires Too, some of them are a real PITA to rebuild and tune, particularly the Rochester Quadajet. That said, best of luck.

Post is going nowhere as far as I concerned...It's apples and oranges. I get the info elsewhere.
