4.3 tbi and poor coolant warming on idle
Hello
I have 1991 c1500 with 4.3 v6 tbi.
Car is extrem warm on winter and thermostat works.
If i idle car couple minutes and start to drive 30-50mph, it takes about 3miles to thermostat open at summer and normal winter weather.
But if i let car idle, it warms very slow. 28f was yesterday and i had winaldl connected. 12minutes and there was 100f on engine.
My heater hose is connected on water pump. It was earlier connected to radiator but it only effected interior heat.
I got 190f air on cab when thermostat is opened and heat full.
My only problem/question is, why this wont heat faster on idle? Many four bangers and smaller engines warm faster.
And v6 radiator and coolant capacity is smaller than v8 so it levels lost cubic inches.
Thank you!

Dunno. At worst you could do what truckers do and block part of the radiator.
