Default '89 350 tbi dies when put in gear, idles fine in park.

Engine idles fine in park, dies when put in any gear. Parts changed: IAC, MAP, EGR control, ICM (in distributor), Ignition coil, TPS, ESC module (by tbi), Fuel Pump Relay, Distributor Cap, Rotor. Changed all of this when it started dieing after driving it for about 15 min, then couldn't start back up till after 12-16 hrs. After changing distributor cap and rotor, started dieing when put in gear. But I can put in gear and keep idle if EST wire is disconnected. Timing is set at 2° BTDC. Engine has headers, throttle body spacer, flow master delta-flow dual exhaust (true duals)(no cats). 700r4 trans. I need help.

1. I'd overhaul the TBI unit with new injectors. Easy to do.

2. 29 year old vehicle, stuff wears out no matter what brand.

3. Did you check the fuel pressures yet? Bad fuel pump?

Ok, since last post I have installed a fuel pressure gauge right behind the throttle body for constant pressure reading (reads 11-12 psi solid). Also changed the knock sensor and installed new fuel pressure regulator and cleaned injectors (injectors have perfect cone spray during operation). If I set the idle high enough I can make it stay running when put in gear, I'm wondering if I need to change the TCC solenoid...?

New O2 sensor and just changed tcc solenoid today, and still f*#*ing does it. I'm about to go nuts.

Did you try disconnecting cts?and what about a wire harness wiggle test? wondering if motor movement going in gear is making a bad connection, like a fusable link off of starter

Default As of Wednesday night I have fixed the problem.

Problem solved! Changed distributor, and went ahead and replaced plugs and wires. Reset timing and off we go! Runs better than ever.
