Question 95 GMC with 350 V8 running rough after distributor replacement

Looking to buy this truck with 200k miles. Quote from the seller:

Truck runs and drives has a miss fire needs to be timed put new distributor in it hasnt ran the same since.
Apparently he got it with the distributor taken out by the PO, put a new one one and the truck's still not running right. He says it just needs to be tuned, doesn't want to deal with it.

Does this pass the sniff test? I'd like to buy the truck but not a new engine.

200k not running well "just needs tune" - my septic tank probably has a similar smell! If you are not mechanically inclined and happy to potentially put a lot of work and more $$$ in to this truck, run away. BTW I have a clean 05 Suburban, 290k on it burns a quart of oil about every 800 mi but otherwise ok if you are interested. Probably getting traded in this weekend.

Pass on it.
If someone knew what they were doing they could check wiring order, timing in 15min before buying it and see If the guy is telling the truth.
But whoever replaced the distributor would probably know enough to check the basics also and it still doesn’t work - so highly likely it’s junk.

Thanks! He said he had a mechanic out to look at it, so I'm guessing that was already done. I'll pass.

I need a pickup, not a suburban unfortunately.
