My trruck wont start when its been sitting longer than a day or 2. Cranks but wont fire. Occasionally backfires when trying to start. Its a 98 1500 with the 5.7 with 200k. Its a strong running before this issue. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Hello Mike.

Didn't see that you posted here already. Assuming your battery and connections and ground wires are okay, frirst place I'd check is your distributor cap and rotor if its been a long time. Don't go cheap on these, buy A/C Delco (I have no monetary interest in any car parts at all) as they are the best. If not that, but you have to have a good ignition system. it could be your EGR valve, or your crankshaft sensor, even an old fuel filter. I'd check your fuel pressures after the ignition system (55-60) PSI, If you have any OBD II codes post them here. Might be clogging up fuel injectors, unless you use gasoline with a top-notch D-C-A. At 200k it could be the fuel pump, but that's why you want to run a test on fuel pressure first.
