98 Chevy c2500 350 long crank. Fuel? Gremlins?
Hey. My truck almost quit on i4 going to orlando. Made it there and back sputtering and losing power along the way.
Got it home, next morning it wouldnt turn over and fire. Changed the fuel ilter (stamped made in usa with no manufacturer).
Neighbor and I got it running with fuel straight into the TB. Got it revved and running and starting on its own. It runs well with no codes.
If I let it sit overnight, it will crank for a long time. Eventually after cycling the key several times and letting it sit, it will start up and run just fine. It pulls well and doesnt stutter at all.
I dont have the proper adapter to test the fuel pressure. Im getting one tomorrow. However, comparing what I get out of the shrader. Vs what others on youtube get when they release pressure, they look the same.
Its acting like it is losing prime.
Also, ive noticed that the pump doesnt always turn on when I switch the key on. However, I will always hear it run when I turn the key off.
One prong on the fuel pump relay had some crud on it, which I removed.
Thoughts? I know I need to get the right adapter to test properly but I just aint got it today.
There are not trouble codes minus the mass airflow, which was set by me removing the plug to make sure it wasnt dirty.
Update: after letting the truck sit for 4 or 5 hours, I released pressure from the shrader. There was next to none. Is the check valve on the return line or built into the supply side of the pump? I dont smell gas in the engine bay so I feel like it has to be leaking back into the tank.
Im wondering if i fried a seal on the pump running it against a clogged filter.
