Centurion chevy problems
All, I bought a 1997 Chevy centurion crew cab without knowing it. When I first got it, it didn’t run. I now can get the motor started but it doesn’t have any power when I put it in drive. I think the torque converter is locked up. But as I dive deeper into this truck I find more and more stuff wrong with it. My questions is this. does anyone know what centurion did to these trucks? Because this truck is a 5.7 i believe and has a 4l80. Did centurion swap the 4l60 out with 4l80 or did Chevy put it in it. This truck is throwing me for a loop and I am just looking to see if anyone has information. RPO codes say it should be a 5.0 with a 4l60. I’m all sorts of confused. Thanks for the info.
To the best of my knowledge, they only did cab & body modifications - things like taking a regular cab, adding to the length of the frame, and making it a full crew cab.
I don’t think they did drive train modifications except as necessary, such as installing a longer driveshaft, but I could be wrong.
