New guy here... My 98 Chevy 454 bb Has a ticking sound coming from passenger side of block; Maybe a stuck lifter? Got a new Jasper motor a few years ago and only has about 40k on new motor.
Already changed the oil about 3 times, using ATF and Marvel Mystery Oil, drove truck hard intermittently for about 50-75 miles, but still ticking.
Any other advice or suggestions y'all have before I have to go to a mechanic? Thanks! Ticking coming from down in this area where I am pointing.
Likely a bad lifter. I'd pull the valve covers off and redo the rockers. More then a full turn is beyond normal clearance. You might get a vehicle stethoscope to track it down. Run it too long as is and you can damage a cam lobe.
