fuel gauge
I have a 1994 Chevy Cheyenne 5.0 L. Fuel gauge doesn't work. Replaced the sending unit and fuel pump. Took the cluster out of a friends 1994 GMC and put it in mine. Acted just like mine, all 6 of the other gauges worked but not the fuel pump. My guess is in the wiring a short or a bad ground but where do I begin. I hate wiring.
Neither would I. Did you plug the electrical into the new sending unit before installing it? I'd try that first. If it's a wiring issue, can you recall what might have caused that?
no idea Kevin Just noticed one that it hadn't moved in a couple days starting watching it and it wasn't moving. my friends fuel gauge works in his truck not in mine. I can't find air core motors before 1995 so I guess I'll just start messing with the wiring
I solved the problem of my fuel gauge staying on full and not moving even when unplugged. I replaced the fuel pump/sending unit with the wrong one. The original had a resisiance range of 0-90 The replacement range was twice that. So just a tip: order sending units and pumps by vin number not by year of the vehicle.
