Default Ground strap broken from rear engine to firewall, can’t reach the bolt

Can I mount the ground to another part of the engine that’s easier to get to?

So... it looks like it is broken at the firewall end, off the circled bolt? Any way you can get some heavy gauge wire and splice/solder it to the ground strap, i.e. to extend the strap so it can reach the bolt? I can understand not wanting to detach the end down on the back side of the engine block...

Yes it broke off from the sidewall, and thank you for replying you replied last time aswell.
the strap is so old it’s brittle and just breaks so it’s no good sadly.

Well, if there is no way to reach the engine side of the ground strap to just unbolt and replace it, the next best thing will be to find a bolt somewhere on the block that you CAN reach, and put a new longer ground strap to that point. If you put the truck on jack stands, would there be a way to reach that bottom bolt from underneath?

so you think I can just bolt it to the intake manifold? I was just making sure it didn’t specifically have to be on the rear head. And no it’s close to the top of the engine just mounted back where you can’t get to, there’s so many metal lines im bound to drop the nut before I could ever even touch the bolt with my finger tips

Well, it would be better if you found a stud or bolt into the engine block if you can. If the intake manifold is metal one of those might work, but I would prefer myself to pick something that does not have a critical torque specification or bolt tightening pattern like the intake manifold. It's been some years since I replaced the intake manifold gasket(s) on my 96 Vortec 5.0, but I just had the intake off of my 2006, and on that year model the manifold has a lot of plastic to it.

Look for a bolt or stud into the block somewhere if you can and try to avoid using one of the intake manifold bolts. Maybe even one of the accessory mounting bolts if you don't mind running the strap forward a little ways.
