I think I need a new clutch pack
I have a 1995 Chevy 4x4 with 350 v8 and 5 speed manual trannie. As far as I know the hydro clutch slave does not require adjustment. Peddle has about 1-2" free play. But, in drive (4th gear) and moving about 30 mph, increasing gas cause rpms to rise but truck stays still for moments and them slowly starts to gain speed. Years ago, this is how we determine of clutch pack was worn out or not. Truck would stall and valves would rattle if clutch was in good shape. I have been under truck and cannot easily see any slave or rod adjustment. So, I suspect this fall I will be adding new clutch pack. I bought truck in 2002 and it had 112K miles on it. Former owner indicated that he had replaced clutch a few months before he sold it to me. I now have 142K miles on it. Maybe he lied to me?

You can try bleeding the system as there is a bleeder on the clutch slave servo.
Any chance some grease or oil got on the clutch? Not likely, but might be possible.

Truck now has about 142K miles on it. I mostly hunted out of it. Hence, so less miles on it... As soon as weather cools, I will jack up and examine underneath. I haven't notice any oil dripping on driveway. I don't see how air got into servo. Clutch system has worked correctly (until now) for decades. It engages and releases as needed, but the pressure plate springs may have just gotten hot and fatigued over time. THX
