Minor steering column fire
The steering column on my 1999 K3500 (old body style) caught on fire due to what I presume is a short in either the turn signals or flasher switch. I don't understand why the fuse didn't blow, it was of the correct size.
Removing the turn signal fuse extinguished the fire, but now I have no turn signals. I'm a little leery of putting the fuse back in until I can fix the problem.
It melted the plastic cover around the steering column. The truck still starts and otherwise runs fine.
Curious if anyone has an idea on why the fuse failed to blow
