My starter relay blew again and no 4x4 with it
Hey everyone new member here first time on these help forums so here it goes. I bought a 1997 silverado extended cab 4x4 from a guy 5 months ago it had a lower knock and decided to switch out the 5.7 vortex for a good running one, just to mention this was my first engine swap solo. So it took me 2 weeks with no help. Slowly educating myself in the ways of chevy. I finally got the vortex in runs and drives. First thing I saw when I purchased it was the rod under the steering wheel that locks the steering wouldn't come loose even with the key in the ignition, so I popped it off and continued my marry way. So I engine swapped, and added speakers and the truck started with the key no problem until last week. I got in and try to start...nothing just dash lights, so first thought was starter relay. Popped it out put a new one In, it worked ..on with my day...did that for a week then I noticed the relay stopped working again. I didn't know if I blew the relay, but when it did it also affected my 4x4 gears, it won't go into 4x4. So I thought, okay must have forgot a ground somewhere, went through them and even upgraded the alternator power and ground and all the other grounds as well...still didn't start. So I'm basically starting my truck with the key in the on position and a hot wire from a positive to the relay top right of the 4. I think 87 or . Anyways I'm getting tired of starting my truck like that, makes it look like I stole it. (Which I didn't have) my mechanic friend said it could be the ignition switch. He also didn't know about the brake security rod that I popped off when I 1st got it. My brain hurts. Lol could I get some Constructive criticism or a few pointers please
