Default Need help on 96 vortec swap

I have a 96 350 K1500 that is blown and need info on swap from the 350 to a 305. I know its stupid but I got it from a friend out of his totaled 98. I was told that it would fit but my but not sure what all I need to do to make it work. THANKS for any help.

it shouldn,t be an issue,you can check and make sure all the connectors to the engine are the same,i,m pretty sure everything is the same.only thing you may have to change if the intakes are different is the intake manifolds and one other thing is probably the ecm.

Both are "Small Block Chevys", and as far as I know, the blocks, bell housing bolt pattern, engine mounts, and hose connection points are identical. As Chevy55 points out, the ECM, if it is not different, will have different programming. Sorry that I don't know about the intake manifold, but a visual check should tell you what you are facing there. The fact that the 305 is coming from a 98 is a positive, as the 96 - 98 engines share a lot in common.
