Need help identifying a wire off the transmission 93 K1500 auto
Hello all! Just picked up a very straight K1500 extended cab for a great price. Needs some odds and ends done and has a few wiring issues with the lights. While starting off trying to eliminate bad or missing grounds, I was under the truck and found this single purple wire coming off the transmission near the shift linkage, runs up through the firewall and is just dangling under the dash. Can’t sort out what it should go to. The speedometer is dead and it’s throwing codes 24 and 59 (VSS open circuit and Trans temp circuit error) so I don’t know if it’s related or not. It runs, drives and shifts great.
Attached photos of the location under the dash and on the transmission. Plus one of the truck itself for fun. Not bad for $500!
It is indeed! And already done. Just have to sort out what the wire goes to. Spent hours yesterday going over the mess they made. Progress being made! Speedometer works again, lighting is fixed, no more shorting out when the column is lifted. Thanks for the diagrams! That will help A LOT!!
