Default Only starts with starting fluid. Sputter Accel.

1998 Chevy Silverado Z71 4x4 5.7 Vortec 255,xxx miles
Truck will crank but won't start. It will start only if i spray some starter fluid. Once started it idles fine, but under a load or accelerating it spit and sputters. If i put the truck in neutral and press the gas pedal its fine.
A new fuel tank, fuel pump, fuel lines from filter back, fuel filter, ignition coil has all been installed in the last 2 months.
Cap and rotor, plugs and wires, egr valve about a year and a half.
Hooked a scan tool up to it and it gave me-
p0440 Evap emmisions systems fault
p0446 Evap Vent Control problem
p1404 EGR 2 position error/EGR closed performance

ANY ADVICE IS HELPFUL

Everything I read points to the fuel pump. I realize it is less than 2 months old. Was the issue you are having the same before the new stuff?

No, i only replaced all that stuff because the tank was rusted on top, the lines were rusted near the tank and the pump broke as i was taking a line off. The pump thats in now is still under warranty, so ill replace the pump sometime this week.

Don't buy cheap aftermarket fuel pumps. They usually don't last and with the work involved to change them, they are not worth it. I would only buy Delco or Delphi pumps.

When i turn the key on, i can hear the fuel pump working. Could it still be faulty or bad? Or not have enough pressure during a load to push the fuel or keep it primed? Because once its running it stays on but sputters under a load.

In my opinion, fuel pressure testing should be your next move.

Did it ever run right after the work to the fuel system? I bought a 98 awhile back that the previous owner couldn't get to run. Simply purging the air out through the pressure testing port fixed it.

Yeah it ran great the past 2 months. Started, idled, and ran great. Just yesterday i was leaving the store and it took a few cranks to get started and i thought that was odd. As i started driving i accelerated pretty hard and it started sputtering bad. If i got into it a little it ran fine. Made it to Oriellys Auto Parts and shut the truck off. Never could get it to start again on its own. Thats when i used starting fluid to get it going.

Update****

I check my fuel pressure at the rail and had 52 psi key on, engine off. Pressure dropped down to 45 when cranking. Bought a new fuel pump and it now starts right up, no hesitation or cutting out when i accelerate. Thanks guys.

You need a new fuel pump. Get a Delphi pump. Not a cheap one.
