Replaced Fuel Injectors but is still running rich
Hi all,
Just wanted to get some feedback on my current situation. So the other week I noticed that both fuel injectors in my TBI unit were releasing way too much fuel at idle, and leaking pretty bad, which made since why the engine was running so rich. I replaced the fuel injectors yesterday, which improved the problem greatly and the engine runs much better now, but there is still a noticeable lag when accelerating due to the fact that it is still running rich. I'm wondering if one of the sensors that controls the air/fuel mixture is causing this problem or if it could be something else. Any help is appreciated.

There are a multitude of things that could be the problem. Out of curiosity, how many miles on the truck? was it regularly maintained? when was the last time you changed the O2 sensor? were any other sensors changed? Does it burn rich from startup and how long do it run it after starting? All the sensors work in unison with the computer. This system isn't a very smart system but nevertheless it's what we have. I have a '94 K1500 and ran the gamut of rich condition. My truck having almost 290,000 on it at the time I wasn't too confident in finding a perfect solution. I changed everything. O2 sensor, TPS, IAC, and temperature sensor. I found a really high quality tune up was eventually my solution. I used an AC Delco cap, rotor, plug wires, and most of all professional series spark plugs. I'm still running the same tune-up now with over 325,000 miles. I couldn't ask for a more reliable truck. I hope this helps.
