Starting and idling issue(s)
My 97 1500 4.3liter does not start up on the first try. On the 2nd attempt, it idles for about 3 seconds then dies. On the 3rd, it starts and roars until I put it in gear. After running, on occasion it may idle down if I don't get it into gear but I usually make it a point to shift sooner then later so that those around me are not alarmed. Any ideas? This has been going on awhile and getting old quickly. Thank you in advance
[QUOTE=oldchevy;333895]From your description, it sounds like the fuel pump.[/
I will look into that. Seems I remember you turn the key on and wait for the sound of the fuel pump activating. Is there anything else to keep in mind regarding that (such as with this manner of "testing" it)? Also does a faulty fuel pump cause it to rev up really high that's what I was referring to when I use the word "roar?" Thank you
