Default Transfer case?????

Hi everyone. I'm new here and have a few questions about a transfer case. I posted in a different forum they told me post here would work better lol. I have a 1997 ck2500 6.5 diesel with a auto4l80e trans. I need a transfer case the tag says 243 gm and I was wondering can I put a 243c in it with no issues. The one I have is push button. I just cant find anything really on just a 243 any help would be helpful thanks

As long as your pickup has a Transfer Case Control Module, I can't think of any reason it wouldn't work. The NP241 is the one that has the shifter on the floor like mine.I am not an expert on this but I believe the NP246 is the automatic four-wheel-drive model. That one might not work, but I could be wrong about that since I really don't like the automatic or push-button 4WD models like the NP243. To each his own.

You need to make sure the transfer case came from behind a 4l80 or manual transmission. The 4l60 has a different output spline count

Yeah, I'm thinking the NP243 is behind the 4L80E and the NP243C came with the 4L60E trans. Both my 96 and 97 K1500's have 243C's.

Dear Jkisul,
Like burnheadge said. Be careful of output spline shaft count. 4l80 (32 splines) and 4l60 (29 splines) have different spline counts.
