03 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 4x4 shifting issues
Hey guys so I have a chevy Silverado 1500 4x4 2003 and I'm having issues with the Trans I believe. I'm pretty sure the truck is stuck in limp mode if you guys know what that is. When I start the truck it runs good the engine sounds good but it has problems taking off. The truck will only take off when I Rev super high because I'm assuming it's switching to 3rd and 4th gears. When I reach about 40 or 50mph it will actually get up and go. But any less spend it won't, like when I stop at a light it takes alot to take off. I'm worried that the Trans may be bad. Hopefully it's the tcm Transmission control module that's ****ed up and not the Trans that's causing limp mode. Any help or ideas I can check?

TCM problems should give you a check engine light.
What is the transmission fluid level?
Have you replaced the transmission filter?
What does the trans fluid look and smell like? If it is very dark and burnt smelling, it is possible that it is a bad transmission or a clogged filter.
Limp mode usually will limit the rpm of the engine. It won't rev up.

Most of the time anything that will place a system in limp mode should provide a code.
Did you check for any codes to provide some guidance?
Sometimes something like a momentary drop in signal or voltage available to the sensors can place a system in limp mode.

Hey, there Hydewell, welcome to the Chevrolet Forum.
I would change the transmission filter and gasket. Do NOT let some lazy mechanic talk you into a "transmission flush". This does not clean a used transmission filter. That filter needs to be replaced. If you are going to keep the vehicle, install a drain pan bolt, to make the job easier, next time. Also be sure to carefully clean the glop out of the bottom of the pan. This fine, grey residue is small metal flakes, from the transmission, over the years. A clean filter and new fluid will also improve your gas mileage, as well as your engine's power.
