I just bought a 1988 Silverado 1500 4X4 Shortbox. It has a 5.7L and auto trans, but not sure what trans.

The truck was purchased while I was visiting my brother for his 16th birthday. I am returning this weekend to bring it home, so that is one reason I don't know about trans. I spent all of 20 minutes with the truck, before I made the deal... kinda of a sudden thing. My younger brother turned 16 and I bought it for him, but he said he didn't want it!! Guess I got a new toy, so...

It is going in for paint next week. It's going to be more of a street truck for me, but the four wheel drive is there when I need it. Here is the kicker...

I want to put dual turbos on this truck and wandered if the trans could handle it... and what mods to the intake could be expected. It has the dual injectors on the carb.

Does anyone know a reference guide to run the VIN and check the factory options for Chevy trucks... or trans options for the 88? It does have the option of shifting into D or OD.
