Which transmission..............
I am looking at a Silverdo 1500 4x4 Regular Cab. For the 2009 models, a 4-spd automatic transmission is available, but the 2010 models will have both the 4-spd and 6-spd transmission options. Do I buy a 2009 with the 4-spd or a 2010 with the 6-spd? Which one is the more reliable? Thanks.

Hi that is a question that hasn't been answered yet as far as reliability. The guys with 6 speeds seem to like them. They seem to search for gears when hauling accoridng to some reviews on other forums. They do yield better fuel economy. The only draw back is that the 6 speed comes with only a 3.42 rear gear. No 3.73 or 4.10 available. Again this is just what I have heard and read.
Don't know bout the 1500 but my 2500 has the 6-speed with 4.10 gears. Its not the allison transmission. I love my 6-speed. i can choose the gear i want it to be in when i'm pulling. usually just hittin the tow/haul button takes care of any gear searching.
According to chevrolet.com, you can get the 2010 1500 with 3.73s, but not 4.10s.
