03 ignition starting issues
My 2003 Silverado just stop starting by the key. I can hear a slight click but nothing I've checked all the fuses and relayies they are all good. So for the moment I've ran two wires from the relay to a push button just so it will start. Has anyone had this problem and can u help.
Howdy, Josh! I take it you have a NO CRANK, NO START issue (just like me a few days ago with my 2002 Silverado.) Long story short, that recent winter storm system blasted through the Midwest here, and temps got to zero. My 4.3L V6 would not crank, would not start.
Step #1--Watch this YouTube--he's got a great "systems" approach.
Make sure you watch it all through first--he goes through all the problems with a NO CRANK, NO START!
OK, ok--you probably don't have all the test tools or gizmos that the mechanic in this You Tube has, BUT--it's all the issues he raises: FUSES, RELAYS, IGNITION SWITCH, STARTER, SOLENOID--get those tested best way you can!
I did all of this! Checked ALL the fuses for ignition system AND the "CRANK" fuse, plus replaced the starter relay. Still no crank, no start.
Step #2--Wife suggested that the "motor was too cold to start." Took her idea, grabbed my 1500 watt Harbor Freight Tools Dual Temp Hand held heat gun (High setting) crawled under the truck, played the heat gun on the starter motor, got back up, and she started right up!
Time to replace my faulty STARTER and/or solenoid atop it!
Hope the You Tube helps ya! It's a wealth of info.
