Default 05 silverado exhaust question

Hey guys wondering about exhaust on my truck

It is an 05 silverado z71 crew cab with stock exhaust

I want something to give it that aftermarket growl but nothing stupid loud like glass packs or anything. I want it to sound nice but not be annoying to drive on Highway.

Will just doing an aftermarket cat-back achieve this for me? If so which brands do you guys recommend? Also are Catbacks on these trucks bolt or do they need to be cut off?

Thanks!

the cats are part of the y-pipe....replace from the y-pipe back, it will bolt up, no cutting.

maga flow is the way to go. nice sound when you accelerate, no droning noise when cruising.

Borla and MBRP exhausts are known to provide a nice rumble. They are loud yet not raspy.

Def agree with magnaflow. Even with my longtube headers and no cats, the magnaflows are pretty tame. I have a 18" on my 01 5.3 and a 22" on my 14 6.2, also had a 14" on my 08 4.8 with headers and no cats. All have headers and no cats, sounds amazing and I've gotten compliments on em before.

My truck came with Flowmaster on it. I like it but it does drone a bit on the hiway but I get used to it pretty easily. Not sure what series they are but they sound great.
