A mechanic isolates a problem by dianosing what isn't wrong. The mechanic tests a parts not yet excluded as working in isolation (sometimes by removing it and bench testing it, other times removal isn't necessary).

Never "throw parts" hoping it will fix something. It is NOT what mechanics do.
