Default 2000 Chevy Silverado 1500

My truck just shut off going down the road. Now it will not start back up. Turns over and has power just not starting.

You have to determine if it is fuel related or electrical. Spray some gas or starter fluid into the throttle body and if it runs for a few seconds then it is fuel related and more than likely a bad fuel pump.

I was thinking that the fuel pump was bad. Ugh not easy to replace. How do I make sure that I get the correct unit to reinstall? I checked the valve on the fuel rail and there was no pressure.

You can take the old fuel pump with you to the auto parts store. It can be matched using the vin number also. Because of the work involved in changing the fuel pump do not get a cheap aftermarket one. Get a Delco or Delphi so you won't have change it again shortly thereafter. If you want to buy it online like from Rockauto, you can call them first to verify.

Thanks for your help with this. Been looking at youtuYo videos on how to take it out. Looks like the tilt bed method is my best option. Will at least give it a try.

Oldchevy is right. Get a very good fuel pump. Might be a good idea to drop the tank and flush the sediment out, if you use it off-road alot. if not, then I know its easier to use the tilt method. Id hit the underside with a high prussure water jet so that nothing like dust dirt or anything, can drop into the fuel tank when replacing the pump.
