2001 Silverado 2500HD, seat belts and child car seats
I just bought my very 1st truck yesterday. It is a 2001 Chevy Silverado 2500HD, is there a place where I can get the kind of belt buckles that cinch tight by pulling the strap for when im installing a car seat? No matter how hard I try, I cannot get the buckles tight enough because the male part of the seat belt just slides around and there is no lockdown bar like the middle seat has. Any help would be greatly appreciated as my childrens safety is my #1 priority. I did see on the seatbelt itself that it had instructions but it doesnt work and lock down the way our other vehicles do
If I understand you right, the outboard seatbelts don't lock, to cinch down the car seat. If you pull the seatbelt all the way out, it engages the ratcheting mechanism, then as the seatbelt retracts it is ratcheting and staying locked. I put my knee into the carseat (or the base) to compress the seat, then cinch down the shoulder belt as it ratchets, and then when I get off it, it's super-tight.
I endeed up having to to get the car seat seat belt clips that aide in the locking of the seat belt. It is still slightly loose but nowehere near dangerous like it was. I definitely appreciate the reply
