2002 HVAC Mode door actuator
2002 Chevy 2500 HD 8.1. Had it for 11 years
I have found this question asked several times on Google searches and not one time did I find the answer. I replaced my mode door actuator and it is backwards in its operation. Defrost is vent and vent is defrost. If you try floor vent it will not stop there and just goes to the full other side. I have pulled the fuse to do the calibration process but it does not calibrate when plugged back in. I left the battery unhooked over night and that did not work either.
I replaced it with a new one the first time and it was new defective. Then changed the control head in the dash. Now the replacement is doing what I mention above.
Thanks for any help you can provide.

I can't believe nobody has the answer to this for as many times as it comes up on Google. I talked to a local shop and they said they have had many problems with the Dorman brand actuators. I took the latest one back and put a GM one in and it went to full defrost and is stuck there now.

remove the actuator....move the door spline by hand...does it move to each mode properly?
did you plug the actuator in and move the mode **** with the actuator removed from the hvac case?

Well, Got it figured out. I got 4 new defective actuators in a row. 3 Dorman and a GM one. Today I went to the junk yard and found a truck with a battery in it. I checked and the mode door was working just like it should. I pulled it out and installed it in my truck and works like it should now. I am so sick of just parts! Most of those junk parts are coming from China but other places also. GRRR!
