2006 Silverado Cabin Air Filter
Hi everyone, new member here,
I have a 2006 Silverado with the 5.3L. I've read that my model year doesn't have a cabin air filter. On further inspection (through the blower motor resistor port) I can see what looks to be a nasty filter or two. I believe on most trucks there is a slot to open and remove these filters, but my truck doesn't seem to have it. How do I change these out? Pull the dash? Sawzall? Gasoline and matches?
PS, sorry if this has been covered before, I couldn't find anything on it. Click here and here for photos. Thanks for the read.

That's not a filter.
Those aluminum fins are part of the heater core and/or A/C evaporator. You're right though. It looks nasty and is probably causing odor in your vehicle. Take apart the housing and see if you can clean it up.
