Default 4l60e problems

I have a 2003 1500 z71 4x4 with a problem shifting into 3rd and 4th. I was driving down the road and all of a sudden the rpms peaked and it was stuck in 2nd gear I’ve tried manually shifting it and that didn’t work but what I noticed it that when I put it in 3rd it shifts down to 1st and when I shift it to 1st it also shifts into first. Not sure what my problem could be possibly a shift solenoid? Other forums said check fuses and I did but none were bad and I don’t think it’s in limp mode which leads me to believe the transmission needs replacing. If that’s the case is there anyway I could put a 4l80 in it with the matching transfer case?

New to the forums but I'm currently having the EXACT issue with my 05 1500 4.8... The same shifting and downshifting symptoms. If you have found any answer to this I would appreciate if you can let me know.

Here’s what I’ve found. Just either get it completely rebuilt. By a good shop or someone who knows wtf they are doing. Doing the sunshell at the same time. Or do the 80 swap. Which I found to be more expensive or at the least harder to get the swap-out parts for. I have an 02 same as what you have. I think the transfer cases have to be changed as well. ( not positive so double check) but in the end you’ll spend the same I figured out on buying used parts to do the swap as you would to get a solid rebuild done. And I chose to get the rebuild. If you’re truck is squatted in the *** ( god I hope not) then a swap won’t help. If everything around it is good rebuild it. I put 330k on my original 60 bc it wasn’t abused too much. I drove fast, pulled hole shots, dogged it in 4wd and towed **** to heavy for it but I didn’t do it often
