5.3 problem after rebuild
Hi guys, today I finish installing my rebuild 5.3 in chevy, engine start, oil pressure at cold get over 40 psi, engine work smooth nice with No ticking and after may be 2-3 minutes Just stop and I cant turn crank more than arround 10-15 degrees with clock. Do you have any idea whats happend?

The most likely reason is there’s probably been a collision between the valves and piston(s) on one or more cylinders.
Pull the spark plugs and look for one or more that’s damaged (broken or bent electrode and tip). If you don’t find any, pull the valve covers and inspect for valves that may have come loose from the springs and dropped down into the cylinder.

Yesterday we check valves, all is good there, and take off front cover, disassembly timing chain and cam Gear and cam spin. When Gear put back - cam cant spin. All timing set was brand new, is posibility that was valid ?

Crankshaft Rotate good, camshaft rotate only when we take out time Gear, retainer plate get small damages. Saturday I get new timing set and we try to fix retainer plate on machine to get end play with spec.

I don’t recall what the 5.3 is originally equipped with, but if you installed a double roller chain, double check that there’s adequate clearance between the cam gear and timing cover. Inspect the inside of the timing cover for witness marks from the chain or gear retaining bolts. If you see any, install a single row timing chain and gear set.
