AC QUESTION FOR 02 Silverado 1500 LS 4.8
Hello everyone, I've just installed a brand new AC compressor in my truck and the orifice valve needs to be replaced, so before i start taking everything apart I need to find out the exact location of it. I've been searching online for awhile but the only information I could find is that it's between the condenser and the evaporator, but that's still not specific. I've also been trying to find an AC diagram to look at but can't seem to locate one.
Any would be greatly appreciated because I've been sweating my *** off to say the least, and by the time I get to a job I'm already too drained to work, lol
Thanks and have a great day !!

In the image below, #3 is the line that connects to the evaporator - trace it back from there and you’ll see the nut & fitting to remove in order to replace the orifice tube. Make sure to replace it with the same color that’s removed.
BEFORE REMOVING THE FITTING, look closely at the line holding the orifice tube - if it appears to have a crimp on BOTH sides, it is a “captured” orifice tube, meaning it cannot be replaced separate from the line (very craftily marked “OT NEST” by these giant fingers ) You will have to replace the line assembly between the condenser and evaporator if it’s captured.

02 Silverado 1500 4.8 AC question
Hello everyone, it's that time of year again, and of course I'm having a problem with the AC. The old compressor which was about 5 years old was shot, so I just replaced it with a new one.
Everything seems to be ok with the installation of the new compressor, I mean the clutch is going and all, and new freon was put in with the do it yourself cans, but I still have to take it to a shop because there might be a leak somewhere. So what I'm asking for is some advice on what other things to be aware of before I take it to a garage, so I'm not taken advantage of. For instance, I know it has to be checked for leaks, orifices might need to be changed, but how many ? New freon must be added etc. Can anyone give me some experienced opinions on what other problems I could run into, and be aware of ?
Thank you ! Look forward to hearing from you guys.
