Default Which Blower Motor Resistor?

Hi,

The blower motor resistor on my truck needs replacing. I have a 2003 Silverado 1500 V6/4.3L, two-door (regular cab) / extended bed. It is manual temperature controls. The OEM part number is 15305077. When I check with my local parts store and looked on-line, they give me a two-bolt pattern replacement. However, the bolt pattern does not match the truck. :-( I if get the 4-bolt pattern replacement, I can bolt that into the truck. To make things worse the resistors look different between 2 and the 4 bolt pattern replacements. On top of that, there are about 6-8 options to choose between for the 2 and 4 bolt patterns.

I've also asked the customer service agents at the shops, but they don't know what to use. To make matters even more fun, customer reviews are all over the place. For the two-bolt: some say the part doesn't fit and returned it and others say it works great, but they had to modify the attachment points. With the four-bolt one, some customer reviews claim it is the right one to use.

So my question is, which one should I use? Use the four-bolt replacement (that does not match the OEM number), or the two-bolt one that does match?

Thanks in advance for any advice.

-Rob

Upper left is the OEM part. Lower left is the sleeve the goes over the part so it can bolted. Upper right is the two-bolt replacement. It won't fit the sleeve, nor will it bolt properly to the truck. The lower right is the 4 bolt replacement. It will bolt, but the resistors are different and it doesn't match the OEM part number.

Here is what I'm talking about. :-)

I looked up the blower motor resistor on RockAuto.com using the part number you provided and the ACDelco one that comes back is part number 22807122, which is an updated part number. From looking at the pictures of the 22807122, it looks quite similar to the OEM part you have pictured. If I were you, I would go to RockAuto.com, search on the part number and compare your unit to the one shown in the pictures for the 22807122. There might be some minor variations between the two, but the updated part number resistor pack should fit.

Good luck.

Thanks! Ironically, about the same time you responded I got off the line with a dealership. They told me they sell 22807123 model, aka the four-bolt pattern one. I had called a few dealerships, and this was the first that gave me the "updated" part number. definitely makes it easier to find what I need. Hopefully, finding a generic version will be easy. The ACDelco one is expensive. Thanks again!

Go to rockauto.com and look at the selection of blower motor resisters that cross to the updated part number. Several aftermarket choices are available.

Good luck!

Take your old one with you to the parts store and see if they can match it.
