Hi, I have a 2000 Silverado 1500, ext. cab, 4x4, auto., 5,7 L engine with 230k miles on it. I've owned it for about 6 years now. I originally bought it from an one owner in Orlando, FL., so he obviously had to use the A/C a lot! The previous owner did say that he had to have the it recharged at some point. The A/C worked when I bought the truck, but stopped blowing cold air, so I recharged it with a can of that DIY stuff, and it worked for a while, but didn't last but a season or two. It's been a few years now that the A/C hasn't worked. I live in the mountains, so I didn't really need it. However, at this time, I would like to fix it and have A/C available if I do need it.

So, I'm wondering what the best approach is to troubleshoot my A/C system is? I don't want to waste a lot of money, or spend a lot on it.
