Default Cat delete check engine lights

I want to remove the catalytic converters in my 2002 Chevy Silverado 1500. If I remove them I was told that the check engine light would be on. Would it be safe to do as long as I keep clearing the code? I live in North Dakota so there is no inspections on vehicles and it is completely legal to do.

yes, you will have constant p0420 p0430 cat efficiency codes. you can clear them but they will reset each time the monitor runs. It will not damage anything on the vehicle but will pollute the environment. No, this is not legal...its not legal anywhere in north America to remove an emission control device...….but seldom enforced.

Does ND require an emission check or test to renew it's registration?

North Dakota does not require an emissions check or do any test when you renew a vehicle registration.
