Default Center console lid

Is it possible to replace the lid spring on this center console? The spring broke and it looks like the lid can be split open. Was not able to find any info on the 1999 console lid replacement.

The lid can be split open, I have done it and mine is actually still split open. It appears that it will snap back together based on some of the little plastic pieces I've observed that exist that look to be a snap fit connector, but I cannot validate 100% that this is the case. It's worth noting that this process will compromise some fused plastic connections between the lid halves, but again, there appears to also be some snap fit connectors allowing you to put it back together. Worst case scenario, my plan will be to use some kind of glue or perhaps mechanical fastener to bond the halves back together, but you can absolutely get to all the internal parts such as the spring. Finding a replacement, I have no idea.

Do you have any pics of the console lid taken apart and is there a good place to start to pry it apart?

Hopefully you can tell by looking at this where the halves were fused together. To be perfectly clear, this is a plastic connection that will "break" when you split the halves. As far as starting point, I think I recall starting from the rear and placing something in between the halves to keep an opening in place, then using another tool (plastic trim tool is a good option) and start sliding to either side until connections pop free.

I doubt that's going to be a part you can find. You'll likely either need to find something similar from an industrial supply place and bend it to shape, get some spring steel stock and make your own, or scavenge this part from a donor.

You can also try the junk yards. You might be able to buy only the top part of the console at the Upick yards.
