Cigarette/power socket

Default Cigarette/power socket

Is there a way to remove them without taking apart the dash, or waiting for a 17-00 tool to arrive in the mail? Would like to get this done ASAP.

They have covers cover to the opening. If you remove it, you still to cover it the opening.
