Clicking noise in rear
I drive a 2006 Chevy 1500 and recently have noticed a clicking noise when driving it comes and goes doesn’t do it all the time. Seems to me it’s coming from behind me in driver seat. I changed differential fluid everything looked good in diff there was no metal or anything the oil was just old and dirty. The u joint right off the rear end has slight bit of play but don’t think that’s the issue. I will be driving at 35mph and it won’t be doing it all the sudden starts clicking for a few seconds and will go away. Seems like sometimes it’s louder than other times when it does it. I’ve layed under it for a hour looking around all the moving parts to see if anything was hitting or something still can’t seem to find anything. If anyone has any info please let me know. Thank you
so it only happens while moving? is it a clicking or a ping? if your u-joint has play i would just change it anyway, it removes it from a possible culprit and fixes something that might be failing anyway and that will leave you stranded in intersection
Yes only happens while moving. It sounds more of like a clicking to me. I’ve had the truck up in the air with someone in the driver seat with it in drive trying to pin point were the noise was coming from but of course it wouldn’t make the noise. I’m to the point of just driving it and waiting till whatever it is breaks and finding out then but it’s not my only vehicle so I don’t drive it for the simple fact I don’t wanna break down on side of the road.
