Cluster repaired but still not working
Hello all. My 2006HD sat for a year without a chargerd battery. Cluster worked great and never had any intermittant failures, etc. prior to sitting, but after putting in a new battery I get a cluster with a check engine light, lighting when the headlights are on and turn signal indicators, but nothing else. No DIC, shift indicator, guages, speedo, tach, idiot lights, etc. I know there is a common failure with the solder on these so took it in and had it repaired. Have pictures showing the mileage and everything working from the repair, so believe it was repaired correctly.
Installed and still the same - almost nothing working. Went through and checked every single micro blade fuse at the under hood and side of the dash fuse panels with a test light and all good. Cleaned the two bolts grounds under the driver door, wiggled the wires in the harness going to the cluster and no improvement.
Figured it then must be a body control module. Replaced that with a Dorman reman unit. Based on what I've seen on YouTube, when I replaced the BCM, it should have created a security lockout/no start and then you go through the 30 minute start/run/off cycle of the key to get it to program itself and all should be good.
When I replaced the reman BCM that did not happen. The cluster still didn't work and the truck started right up with no security/no start. It was exactly the same as the previous BCM.
Not sure if that is a good or bad thing, but I am running out of ideas to get this cluster working.
What am I missing? I can't seem to find anyone that has had this level of attempts to fix.
Who's ready to think outside the box and help on this one! lol
