Help understanding how to sell a truck
This is the first vehicle I ever got and it is sad to see it go. I am sure guys here have gone through this before but I am not sure the best way to sell a vehicle if I am not doing a trade in. My perception tells me that trade ins are generally the best route if you are getting another vehicle but that isn't the case here. How do I know what to sell this vehicle for? And where is the best place to sell?
It is in excellent shape and here is the other information:

Check prices on KBB, Autotrader and other sales sites and see what they are going for in your area. When I have sold vehicles in the past, I always put a for sale sign in the window and sold it that way. You can also post it on Craigslist or Marketplace.
If you want to maximize your sale, do as posted above and put a for sale sign on it. Maybe park it in area where there is a lot of traffic passing by. List it in your local paper, Craigslist, Autotrader, etc. Check prices on KBB, Autotrader, etc to see what comparable vehicles are listing for. The only issue I see is if you expect to sell it quickly. In my local area, I see vehicles with for sale signs posted on them and it usually takes several months for it to disappear. Now whether that's because it actually sold or the seller gave up trying to sell it, I can't be sure.
One option is to take it to CarMax (if there is one close). They'll evaluate it and give you a price they will buy it for (good for 7 days), but it will probably be a trade in price (not retail). And no, 'you don't have to buy a vehicle from them - they buy vehicles all the time.
Good luck!
