Default hose identification 2000 Silverado

My 2000 Silverado half ton extended cab has a black flexible hose hanging down and dragging. The hose comes down the left side from above the rear of the gas tank. It is hanging slightly in front of the rear axle. I'm guessing that it might be a vent tube for the gas tank, but that's just a guess. The hose is split on the end, which leads me to believe that it was probably plugged onto a nipple somewhere. Could one of you folks please tell me where the end of that hose should go? I've been dragging it around too long and it's time to re attach it.
THANKS

Hello; I had reason to be under my 2004 Silverado yesterday. I was working in the wheel well on the drivers side area. I noticed the gas filler tube area while under there for a couple of hours. There is the big fill tube maybe an inch & a half or so running to the gas tank. There is a second tube maybe 3/4 inch or so diameter which i figure is to let air out of the tank when filling up. There is a small flexible rubber hose maybe 1/2 inch diameter which goes on a fitting high up on the big gas fill tube. I tried to trace it to the other end but was not able to as the job I was doing took most of my attention. So three tubes in the gas tank filler tube area.

Side note- Back in the summer I made a mistake. I went to an area concrete business. I drove thru a puddle. Later discovered the puddle had some cement/concrete in it which splashed into the wheel wells and someon the outside of the fenders. The stuff on the outside paint cleans off easily enough. It is the slightly thicker stuff in the whell wells which has become a chore.
I used vinegar in a spray bottle on the outside paint followed with using a soft plastic tool for spreading caulk in a stream of water. It came off without scratching the paint. ( note -a fingernail works but leaves find sctrtch marks. The soft tool is better.)

The stuff in the wheel well is thicker and so far, requires something more. Vinegar does not soften it much if at all. The best tool is rotary tool with fiberglass or some sort of fingers. looks like a wire wheel but does not use metal wires. Removes the cement and scuffs up the paint without going to bare metal. I them paint on some rust coating primer. It works but the job is slow and awkward. Wish i had a lift.
