Default Knock and Cam Sensor

Going to replace my knock sensors on my 2005 5.3 gas. Wanted to ask two questions:

1) Can/should I replace the cam position sensor since access to it will be optimal?

2) If I do replace the can sensor, is there a relearn procedure or process?

Thanks.
Greg

If it's not broken, don't fix it.

I have the P0327 code. Done that knock sensor job 10 years or so ago. Not hard, just time consuming.

Heard when the cam sensor fails, it fails bad. Just hate to redo everything again as it looks very tight getting to that sensor and its harness without the removal of the intake.

I just wish older parts could simply be replaced without the relearn/programming stuff…and gremlins that I see so many talk about on the internet.I ‘d like to think a new sensor would be better than the 19 year old one.

Sometimes wish I had no computer and a carb.

But looking for help on here. Thanks for your input..

My engine does seem sluggish and less responsive. Was just thinking that new components would only help.

this is a well-cared for very clean 5.3.

Nope. Crank/Cam position sensors either work or they don't. When they don't , they'll tell you.
