Overheating 02 Silverado A/C on or off

Yeah I'd start looking at the head gaskets then. But before you spend money on the tester, run it a bit and see if coolant disappears. If it does a leak down test or combustion gas test is in order.

Fair warning on the combustion gas testers, when I bought my honduh it had a blown head gasket but passed combustion gas tests even with obvious bubbling in the overflow tank. Only upon year down was I certain the head gasket was shot, I ended up replacing almost the entire cooling system too.

Yes it only does it in extreme heat. Didn't do it today after the cleaning

Yeah I would still look at the head gaskets just to make sure, pending if you are still losing coolant.

The only other thing I can imagine it being is a flow issue, you've already thrown a new water pump on, so that would mean either the radiator is clogged or some passages in the block are.

But if it's not overheating now run it a bit and verify, check for coolant loss etc.

Sweet today is going to be 108 at that point I will run it and see at what point it starts to over heat if it does. If not then cleanin flitside worked if not hopefully next step would not be head gasket
