My Silverado will randomly get stuck while in reverse. Press on the brakes and I feel something in the back slam, and will move a little bit but remain stuck in Reverse. I do this several times and eventually my Chuck will allow me to go backwards. I've had mechanics check it out and my transmission is telling the computer that it is in reverse and there's no problem there. So is it a differential problem?

 

Sounds like something is binding up.


I'd look over the driveline. My 4x4 would bind up a bit when it shelled one of the front cv shafts/joints. I could always power through it but always felt it.


I'd look at your driveshaft, and if all seems well, you might have a floater in your diff, which is bad.
