Default Silverado make a metal cling when going to R,N,D

Ok when going through the reverse neutral and drive I hear a metal cling sound why is that happening it's a 2002

Possibly u joints. That's my experience from the situation

ok what’s the U joints and are they expensive to put on

U joints are the parts connecting the drive shaft to the trans and rear end. The look like a x for the most part. They are not expensive and the replacement isn't too hard to do yourself
