Question VSS came apart trying to remove and part is in tailstock of transmission

Removed bolt securing Vehicle Speed Sensor and tried to remove it. Part of the VSS came out but a long plastic end and wires would not come out. Tried using long needle nose pliers and result, plastic part fell into the tailstock of the automatic transmission. It could cause damage to the transmission if not removed.

Can the tailstock end which is bolted on to the transmission with about 6 bolts be removed without removing the transmission.
If so HOW?
Also getting a leak at the trans output shaft. Replaced end oil seal but it still leaks.
Suggestions?

Might need to use a speedi sleeve on the driveline to stop the leak.

Default Changed VSS after removing tailstock Seems to be OK

Truck is a 2002 Silverado 2WD 133" wheelbase. Removed tailstock, removed broken part of VSS that fell into tailstock. Also replaced bushing at end of tailstock and put a new oil seal on as well.
Seems to have fixed the brake light and transmission shifting problems.
