Default What is this bracket

This bracket is on my original factory 5.3 do I need it for the reinstall of my new crate engine or was it to simplify install on assembly line

Some things just stand out and hopefully don't create problems.
I don't know what the bracket might be used for, but from looking at the pix where the engine lift chain is up against the sealing surface on the head , makes me cringe because after all is assembled (providing you are using that head in the pix) ,An oil leak there will take someone for a real ride attempting to determine it's origin.

engine pics are of the core I am installing a crate engine wont install bracket if I dont know what it does Thanks for the quick reply

That’s the engine lift bracket it just doesn’t have an eyelet. I don’t know if they have a special type of hook for them but you can wrap a chain around it or just remove it and bolt the chain in the position of the hook.
